Euplotes sp. Ciliates are sometimes used as a “first-feed” for larval fishes. Ciliates can also be used as direct-feeds for filter-feeding invertebrates and corals. The variety of ciliate we are culturing and offering consumes phytoplankton and behaves as a pelagic species (found swimming in the water column), where it is more-likely to be consumed by corals and invertebrates than benthic (bottom-dwelling) varieties. These are shipped in a bottle where they can be stored before use. If they are to be kept long-term or if being cultured, it is recommended that they are fed live algae. DT’s products are prime candidates for this!
