Paracheilinus octotaenia
The Eight-line Flasher Wrasse, Paracheilinus octotaenia (Fourmanoir, 1955) is a stunning addition to any aquarist’s tank. This wrasse is well suited to any tanks of 50 gallons or more and is an easy tank-mate for both corals and other fish. A single male and multiple females may be put together in the same tank without danger. The Eight-line Flasher Wrasse as lively as the colors the males of this species display.
Physical Description– The male Eight-line Flasher Wrasse has vivid display colors, bearing blue lines down its length with the body being a dark yellow. The fins are a deep red. Females are similarly colored but observably less striking.
Temperament– The Eight-line Flasher Wrasse has an excellent temperament and can be placed in a tank with most other fish or corals without causing damage to them. The exception is other males which may compete.
Size– They may grow up to 4’’ in length.
Diet– Vitamin enriched Mysis and pellet foods like SA’s Hatchery Diet.
Distribution– Found between 5 and 45 meters in depth throughout the Red Sea’s reefs.
