Tigriopus Californicus Copepods

Tigriopus californicus Copepods, commonly known as “Tiger Pods” are a larger (1000-1500 microns) species of harpacticoid copepod. They are often found living in tidepools where they can tolerate the temperature swings that occur there, making this species an ideal-candidate for aquaculture use. The large size, bright color, and quick movements make this copepod attractive to many fishes as well. This species is a good choice for “seeding” new tanks and refugiums, as they will become established and populate the aquarium, serving as a food source. Tigriopus feed on detritus and bacteria, making them fairly easy to culture on a variety of feeds.
