SA’s Algae Food – Nutrients for Aquatic Algae Culture
SA’s Algae Food:
SA’s Algae Food is a nutrient medium for the culture of microalgae or macroalgae in freshwater or saltwater. The recipe is based on the tried-and-true Guillard’s f/2 formulation. Microalgae are the primary producers in aquatic food chains and are consumed by zooplankton and filter-feeding animals. Microalgae in aquaculture are commonly used as feed for zooplankton (rotifers, copepods, ciliates, Artemia, etc) or as a food source for filter-feeding animals such as bivalves, feather dusters, sponges, tunicates, etc.
SA’s Algae Food is the same formulation used to fertilize and grow thousands of liters of phytoplankton each day. Careful selection of ingredients, sterilization, and packing ensure a quality product that we are confident to use ourselves!
Dosage and Use:
1ml of SA’s Algae Food will treat 2.5 liters of culture water
Water, culture vessels, and anything contacting the culture should be clean and sterile. Starter cultures of SA’s algae species can be obtained from Sustainable Aquatics.
